We all need a little love from time to time - here are 5 romantic film quotes to melt your heart

I’m a girly girl – give me a Rom-Com over action any day. There you go, I’ve said it. A bunch of people I know, would cringe at the thought of openly admitting they enjoy Rom Coms. But why?

Rom Coms make enough money, spawn franchises, are popular in books, and later television. A developing on-screen relationship is fun to watch, and we like rooting for a will-they-won't-they couple. But we feel a certain amount of shame for liking romantic films and cover that shame with a self-critical false confidence because we know we're only supposed to like "cool” things, and we've been trained not to see romantic comedies as "cool" movies. So, in celebration of loving something “uncool” I’ve collected 5 romantic film quotes.

  1. "Winning that ticket, Rose, was the best thing that ever happened to me... it brought me to you. And I'm thankful for that, Rose. I'm thankful. You must do me this honour. Promise me you'll survive. That you won't give up, no matter what happens, no matter how hopeless. Promise me now, Rose, and never let go of that promise."

—Jack, Titanic (How can I not include this on my list)

  1. "I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental — like on a breeze, but I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time. I miss you, Jenny. If there's anything you need, I won't be far away."

—Forrest, Forrest Gump

  1. Brokeback Mountain (2005) "I wish I knew how to quit you."

—Jack (Jake Gyllenhaal) to Ennis (Heath Ledger) Brokeback Mountain (2005)

  1.  “It was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were supposed to be together … and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home. .. only to no home I’d ever known … I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like … magic.”
—Sam (Tom Hanks) Sleepless in Seattle (1993)

  1. Loving someone, and being loved means so much to me. We always make fun of it and stuff. But isn’t everything we do in life a way to be loved a little more?
—Celine, Before Sunrise (1995)
